Skyport

Over the next few months Skyward is updating its look and ease of use. We first want to show you Skyport which is a dashboard interface when you first log into Skyward; it is a page that you can leave up and see information at a glance. It contains customizable information all on one screen. The Skyward that you currently use is unchanged. This is just a frontpage. Once you log into this page, you simply click a button at the top of the page to open family access.

The link below will give you access to Skyport. This new front interface works for staff, students, and parents. We will start revealing this to all users over the next few weeks and switch all of our links to this new version early 2012.

Here is the URL to the new Skyport: https://teacher.bas-k12.org/scripts/cgiip.exe/WService=wsStu/skyport.w

Here is theURL to a tutorial on how Skyport works and information about how to use it:

Educational Video Library
by Ryan Kelley - Monday, February 14, 2011, 12:17 PM

We are launching a new service that is part of our content filter system called the Educational Video Library. The site allows teachers to submit YouTube videos that are safe and educational for students to view.

YouTube is rife with educationally-rich videos but is also full of inappropriate content. The new Educational Video Library allows teachers to give their students access to valuable educational videos. With this feature, approved videos can be viewed and shared without the potentially dangerous and inappropriate peripheral content, such as comments and related links.

Educational Video Library can be found at http://light.bas-k12.org/safevideos.

Teacher Instructions can be found here.

Keep your home computer free of viruses and spyware
by Ryan Kelley - Monday, October 25, 2010, 05:58 AM

October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month.

Are you doing your part to keep the internet safe and free of viruses and spyware? Here are some free resources that can help keep your home computer clean.

Ccleaner- CCleaner is for cleaning your Windows PC. It protects your privacy online and makes your computer faster and more secure.

You should update and run this once a month.

Malwarebytes - Malwarebytes is dedicated to fighting malware. Malwarebytes has developed a variety of tools that can identify and remove malicious software from your computer. When your computer becomes infected, Malwarebytes can provide the needed assistance to remove the infection and restore the machine back to optimum performance.

Make sure you download the free version. This can be updated and run
monthly or when needed.

Avast!
- Free Antivirus often outperforms our competitors´ paid products and is the minimum protection you should have — it provides great protection against viruses and spyware.

You should only run one antivirus program on your computer at a time. If
you are not sure if you have antivirus on your computer or do not know how to remove old products ask a friend for help.
